Thomas Kingston: Royals grieve over Prince Michael of Kent’s son-in-law

Thomas Kingston, spouse of Lady Gabriella Kingston and son-in-law of Prince and Princess Michael of Kent, has passed away at the age of 45, as announced by Buckingham Palace.

He was discovered deceased at a residence in Gloucestershire on Sunday evening, prompting the intervention of emergency services.

There were no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death, and no other individuals were involved.

King Charles and Queen Camilla conveyed their “deepest condolences and prayers” to his relatives.

A statement released by Buckingham Palace on behalf of Mr. Kingston’s widow, Lady Gabriella, and his family paid homage to Mr. Kingston: “Tom was an extraordinary individual who brought joy to the lives of all those who knew him.”

The passing was characterized as a “significant surprise to the entire family”.

An inquiry will be conducted.

Lady Gabriella is the offspring of Prince and Princess Michael of Kent – with Prince Michael, aged 81, being a descendant of King George V and the first cousin of the deceased Queen Elizabeth II.

A spokesperson from Buckingham Palace stated that King Charles and Queen Camilla “stand in solidarity with Prince and Princess Michael of Kent and all those acquainted with him in mourning a beloved member of the family”.

Mr. Kingston, a board member at private equity firm Devonport Capital, tied the knot with Lady Gabriella in 2019 at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle, with esteemed guests including Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Philip, and Prince Harry.

Previously, he served in Baghdad, the capital of Iraq, with the Diplomatic Missions Unit of the Foreign Office, where he played a role in facilitating the release of hostages.

His spouse, Lady Gabriella, boasts a background in arts and travel direction, as well as being a writer, contributing editor, and singer-songwriter.

Although Lady Gabriella is not an active member of the Royal Family, both her and Mr. Kingston’s relatives receive support from the Royal Family during this period.

The Prince and Princess of Kent, Lady Gabriella’s parents, attended the funeral service for the late former King Constantine of Greece at St. George’s Chapel on Tuesday.

Prince William unexpectedly withdrew from the memorial service due to an undisclosed “personal matter,” although it is unrelated to the news concerning Mr. Kingston.

Gloucestershire Police were alerted by the ambulance service to an incident at a location in the Cotswolds at 18:25 GMT on Sunday.

The authorities stated: “The death is not considered suspicious, and a report will be submitted to the coroner.”
